Comprehensive cognitive evaluation for clinical and diagnostic purposes
Neuropsychological assessments are thorough, tailored evaluations that examine memory, attention, language, executive function, and other cognitive domains to clarify the nature and likely cause of cognitive difficulties. Identifying cognitive strengths and difficulties, the test results guide diagnosis, rehabilitation goals and treatment planning.
Baseline clinical assessment to establish if cognition is impaired (versus normal cognition)
Characterise cognitive profile
Make recommendations for management
Follow-up assessment after 9-12 months, if required, to monitor for cognitive changes
Determine progression or treatment response
Differential diagnosis of cognitive disorders
Early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s and other dementias, particularly important as new treatments become available
Differentiating neurodegenerative and psychiatric/psychological disorders
Determine suitability for available clinical trials
Rehabilitation assessments for treatment planning
Return to work or study
Capacity to benefit from specialist rehabilitation programs
Targeted rehabilitation programmes
Our cognitive rehabilitation programmes incorporate a range of evidence-based neuropsychological interventions that are individually tailored and informed by the neuropsychological assessment results and personalised goals of the individual. We use a broad approach that combines education about memory and other cognitive abilities, training in practical cognitive strategies, and support in using helpful tools such as calendars, reminders and prompts. Our programs may also include cognitive exercises, computer-based brain training, guidance on healthy lifestyle habits that support brain health (such as physical activity and mentally stimulating activities), and management of factors that may increase the risk of cognitive decline (see ‘Optimising Brain Health’).
Personalised brain health and lifestyle plan
Many of the factors associated with dementia risk can be modified through positive lifestyle changes, making brain health and lifestyle optimisation an important part of preserving cognitive function across the lifespan. We provide personalised risk assessment, guidance and support to help individuals understand their risk profile, address modifiable risk factors, and build healthy habits such as exercise, nutrition and mentally stimulating activities, that promote brain health. By taking a proactive approach, we aim to optimise cognitive functioning, maintain independence and enhance overall health and quality of life.
